Gilbarco’s Browne speaks at Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Forum

      GREENSBORO, N.C. – October 5, 2009 – Richard Browne, vice president of marketing for North America at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, spoke at the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Forum at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas on Friday, October 9, 2009. The event was sponsored by Integer Research.  

      The expert panel discussion entitled “The future of DEF at the truck stop: how will the market develop?” discussed DEF adoption, strategies and infrastructure developments at truck stops. Browne presented the technology options and advice for retailers and fleet operators who invest in infrastructure to offer DEF, based on Gilbarco’s experience in these areas.

      In the United States, new EPA Vehicle Emission Standards for Diesel Engines go into effect in 2010. Class V and great trucks will inject DEF into the exhaust stream to reduce Nitrogen Oxide emissions. The corrosive characteristics and storage temperature requirements for DEF are very different from diesel fuel and gasoline.

Morrison Releases Model 1018
Electronic AST Gauge & Overfill Alarm

      Dubuque, Iowa—Morrison Bros. Co., a leading manufacturer of petroleum marketing equipment, has announced the release of the Fig. 1018 Electronic AST Gauge & Overfill Alarm.

      The Fig. 1018 system measures liquid level in an AST by using a gauge with a mechanically actuated float. The gauge converts the mechanical readout to electronic data and transmits the data to the console unit, enabling the user to manage inventory and prevent overfill by use of audible and visual high and low level alarms.

      Programming and readout can be done either at the console or a remote PC.  Each console can monitor up to four aboveground tanks. Software will monitor up to a network of 8 consoles and 32 tanks from one PC. The tank mounted gauge is equipped with a visible indicator which provides a backup reading to the electronic system. For use on aboveground tanks up to 35 feet in height.
